Jan/FebCut Block Fabrics
From the focus fabric (A) cut:
1 - 10 ½" x 10 ½" square
From the background (B) cut:
4 - 4 3/8" x 4 3/8" squares
Cut the squares in half diagonally for 8 triangles
From the dark coordinate (C) cut:
4 - 4" x 4" squares
Assemble the Block
Use the block diagram to help you assemble the Sunrise block.
Sew a background (B) triangle to two sides of a dark coordinate (C) 4" square. Create four of these background/dark coordinate units. Then sew one background/dark coordinate unit to each side of the focus (A) 10 ½" square.
Cut Border Fabrics
From the dark coordinate cut:
6 - 3 ½" x 42" strips
From the focus fabric cut:
7 - 6 ½" x 42" strips
Assemble the Borders
From the dark coordinate 3 ½" strips, piece 2 border strips to equal 3 ½" x 58 ½". Piece 2 more border strips to equal 3 ½" x 52 ½". Stack the border strips and set aside for later.
From the focus fabric 6 ½" strips, piece 2 border strips to equal 6 ½" x 70 ½". Piece 2 more border strips to equal 6 ½" x 58 ½". Stack the border strips and set aside for later.
